Sprung Wood Gym Floor - One question I have been asked time and again over the years working in the wood flooring business is; can my old fitted wooden floor be sanded and refurbished? Lots of people have a wooden floor in their house which has been down for 6-10 years that's appearing tired, lifeless, has scratches or spots in and has definitely seen better days. Many people understand that parquet floors or original floor boards might be sanded back to create a lovely finished floor, but things to do using a fitted wooden floor is a bit more confusing.

You must determine that it is wood, and most importantly what sort of floor you've got. I'm afraid the sole alternative would be to replace it if your floor is a wood effect laminate then. Laminate flooring comes in varying level of quality, but most of the time it is basically a wood effect print stuck to an MDF or plywood plank with a lacquer on top, sanding it destroy the floor and would only sand the paint off.

There are two forms of fitted wooden flooring; the good thing and solid and engineered wood flooring is, both could be sanded and refurbished to look as new as the day they were fitted. Engineered wooden flooring can occasionally be mistaken for laminate as it features an identical building. Engineered wood flooring has a thin layer of real wood, typically between 3-5 millimeters bonded to some base of ply or MDF board, because that it is fitted together with a tongue and groove and of its building, additionally, it remains really level.

This means if sanded right you must only have to sand off less when compared to a millimeter, or so the floor can usually be sanded up to 3 times In Case your floor is solid wood flooring it'll employ a similar appearance to engineered at first glance, but it will be built entirely of just one piece of wood in the face of the base. Solid wood flooring will necessarily cost a lot more to purchase and is more expensive to make, but for me, it is not as good a product as engineered as it is more vulnerable to warping.
