Scratch On Laminate Wood Floorstesting old wives tales using nuts to repair scratches in wood

Scratch On Laminate Wood Floors - One question I have already been asked time and again on the years working in the wood flooring business is; can my old fitted wooden floor be sanded and refurbished? Most folks understand that first floor boards or parquet floors might be sanded back to make a finished flooring that is lovely, having a fitted wooden flooring is a little more confusing, but what to do.

Firstly you need to determine which kind of flooring you've got, & most importantly that it's wood. If your flooring is a wood effect laminate then I'm afraid the sole alternative is to replace it.

There are two forms of fitted wooden flooring; the great news along with solid and engineered wood flooring is, both might be sanded and refurbished to look as new as the day they were fitted. Engineered wooden flooring can occasionally be mistaken for laminate as it has a similar building. Engineered wood flooring includes a thin layer of real wood, generally between 3-5 mm bonded to your foundation of ply or MDF board, because of its building and that it is fitted together using a tongue and groove, additionally, it stays really level.

Solid wood flooring is more expensive to make and will necessarily cost a lot more to buy, but in my opinion, it's not as good engineered as it is more prone to warping.
